Partner Visa
Have you found that special someone, your soul mate and the love of your life? Would you like that special someone to come to Australia and live with you. If so, the Partner visa could be a viable option for you and your partner.
You and your partner will need to be married or live in a de facto relationship to apply this visa, which is often known as a Spouse visa.
This visa is a two-step process and allows the applicant to apply for the temporary visa, which allows the applicant to work, study and/or travel and then subsequently allows the applicant to apply for a permanent visa after two years from the date of lodgment of the temporary visa.
Basic Eligibility
Firstly, the sponsor must:
- be an Australian citizen
- be an Australian permanent resident
- be an eligible New Zealand citizen
Secondly, the applicant must:
- be at least 18 years of age
Generally, the sponsor and applicant must:
- demonstrate a marital or a de facto relationship
- show that the relationship is genuine and continuing with a mutual commitment between the partners to a shared life as spouses (or the equivalent) to the exclusion of all others
