Are you a business looking to sponsor workers from overseas? Are you a skilled worker who has been offered a great job? If so, the Temporary Skill Shortage visa, also known as the 482 Visa or TSS Visa could be the appropriate visa for you.
The TSS visa period varies and will depend on the chosen stream, namely:
- Short-term stream (STSOL) – 2 years
- Medium-term stream (MLTSSL or ROL) – 4 years
Basic Eligibility
Firstly, the business will need to:
- be a lawfully operating business
- pay the Skilling Australians Fund (SAF)
- business’ yearly turnover of less than $10M – $1,200 per year
- business’ yearly turnover of $10M and more – $1,800 per year
- nominate an occupation on the:
- if required, satisfy the ‘Caveat‘ criteria
- pay the skilled worker the annual market salary rate (AMSR) for the nominated occupation
Secondly, the skilled worker will need to:
- be employed in the nominated occupation
- show that the skilled worker has skills, qualifications and at least 2 years of experience in the nominated occupation
- show that the skilled worker holds the necessary licences and registrations necessary to work in the nominated occupation
- satisfy the English criteria:
- Short-term stream (STSOL) – Overall band score of at least 5.0 with at least 4.5 in each of the test components
- Medium-term stream (MLTSSL or ROL) – Overall band score of at least 5.0 with at least 5 in each of the test components.
