General Skilled Migration is for individuals who wish to migrate to Australia on a permanent basis due to their qualifications and/or work experience. Selection is based on points, which include age, qualifications, English level, work experience and other items.

Basic Eligibility
The individual must first submit an expression of interest and then be invited through SkillSelect. Information provided on the expression of interest cannot be updated, changed or deleted.
If an invitation is offered, the individual must lodge the visa application within 60 days.
For the General Skilled Migration, the individual must:
- have not turned 45 years of age
- have competent English
- demonstrate a suitable skills assessment assessed by the relevant assessing authority for a nominated occupation:
- Skilled Independent visa (189)
- Skilled Nominated visa (190)
- meet the 65 points requirement
